 Design Hotel in the Sasso Caveoso   
 
 Basiliani is a design hotel located in the Sassi of Matera, in one of the oldest  and most extraordinary settings where there is evidence of human  settlements dating back to the Neolithic Age. The design elaborates  the minimal structure of the traditional cave-house in a contemporary  perspective, contrasting modernity with the past with a perfect balance  between a contemporary style and ancient dwellings. The hotel overlooks  the Gravina canyon district and the Parco Archeologico delle Chiese  Rupestri, both Unesco sites since 1993. It is just a short walk from the town  centre  and the most interesting points of cultural interest.
