The Basiliani is a design hotel located in the heart of the Matera Sassi, in one of the oldest and most extraordinary settings where there is evidence of human settlements dating back to the Neolithic Age.

The design elaborates the minimal structure of the traditional cave-house in a contemporary perspective, contrasting modernity with the past in a perfect balance between a contemporary style and ancient dwellings.

The dominant colours of the interiors are the white of the carved limestone walls and the red of the wooden furniture.

The squared dark floor invades and leads, measures and draws each space. The lines are essential.

The spacious guestrooms overlook the prehistoric caves in the Gravina Canyon District and the Archaeological Park, both Unesco Sites.

They feature an independent entrance, air conditioning, wi-fi Internet connection, a satellite flat-screen tv, en suite bathroom, tea/coffee maker, minibar, safe-deposit box.

Basiliani multilingual staff is available at the reception desk in the hotel main building, where guests find a lounge with a free internet point

The hotel is in a central position, just a short walk from the most interesting points of cultural interest in the town

The hotel is located in a limited traffic area. Free on-street parking is possible near the entrance to Sasso Caveoso. It is also available a covered car park in Via Lucana-Via Vena (500 metres from the hotel, the fee is € 0,50 per hour)

In any case it is available our free shuttle service from the car park to the hotel (available at  the check-in and check-out)
